  3. Old Business
  1. Approve May 2025 meeting minutes (https://www.hbpto.net/blog)- Celeste motions, Sam seconds.
  2. Other
  1. New PTO Member(s)
  1. Secretary- Chelsea has volunteered, was voted in
  2. Spanish Liaison- Cecilia has volunteered, was voted in
  1. Review School Calendar with PTO Activities – upcoming: Family Fun Night, Oct 10th
  2. Teacher Communication Update
  1. Staff Letter- sent to staff introducing PTO and explain how reimbursements work (up to $50 per teacher). Last year, 13 staff took advantage- so we need to encourage more to participate.
  2. Wish List– option to do shared amazon wishlist to simplify the process. Can multiple people add to the list? Then parents can purchase things directly on staff wish list.
  1. Meet Your Teacher Open House – Recap- typically PTO booth doesn’t get a lot of traffic. Need to get there earlier to get flyers out. How can we improve outreach? Front door was good. Maybe add a signup booth WITHOUT volunteer staffed in case parents want to sign up quickly but don’t have time to talk. Josefina mentioned some Latina parents missed the 5th grade meeting- maybe improved signage, better translation.
  2. Walk, Bike, Roll to School – Oct. 8- morning activity that was started last year, where students can walk/bike to school together together. PTO provides snacks (remind students to only take one). Flyer will go out soon.
  3. Family Fun Night Outdoor Movie Night Update – Oct. 10- if weather cooperates it will be outdoors. Need to decide on movie, ideas: K Pop Demon Hunter, Hocus Pocus. Chelsea has extra streaming sticks if we need to stream vs DVD. Simple to put together, signup genius for a couple volunteers. BYO food, no popcorn. May need some adjustments to account for sunset/sun location. May push it back, or move location to upper parking lot.
  4. Restaurant Fundraisers-
  1. Raising Cane’s  – Sept. 30-one flyer has been sent, may do another flyer, social media.
  2. For future: Sonic reached out. Jersey Mikes, Davannis, Chipotle, Freddy’s, Chuck E Cheese, Culvers (but needs volunteers). If anyone is willing to take on that role. Try to do it every month or every other month. Amelia has offered to help with future fundraiser. Rosie knows manager of Culvers and may be able to facilitate.
  1. Grade Level Event Sponsorship- Trying to roll out this year. Each grade is responsible for an event, planning and volunteer. Get more folks involved. Get messaging out that there are not background checks needed for events outside of school in case that is a barrier for some undocumented families.
  1. Hornet Hop & Silent Auction – Nov. 7- free carnival with games, prizes, dancing in the gym, silent auction. 3rd grade is sponsoring. Girl Scout troop volunteered to help. Amazon has temporary tattoo facepaint we could use- easy quick, doesn’t rub off on clothes. Celeste request’s glitter tattoos this year. Looking for additional 3rd grade families to help. Lots of history to help run it. Behind on silent auction solicitation. Need to update email template. Art show for 3rd grade? Could be glow in the dark/black lit.
  2. Other
  1. Yearbook- no updates. Christina and Vanessa doing yearbook.
  2. Apparel- families can order directly from website, but does take effort to promote. They provide flyers. Would anyone want to take ownership? Amelia interested.
  3. Treasurer Update (Sam)
  1. Final 2024-2025 Results- last year we made $18,000 and lost $2,800. Income came in low due to underperforming fundraisers. May need to decrease expenses in future to account for lower revenue. Idea- do more frequent restaurant fundraisers.
  2. Budget 2025-2026-
