Harriet Bishop PTO January 2019 Meeting Minutes harrietbishoppto@gmail.com

  1. Meeting was called to order. 13 people were present; everyone introduced themselves
    1. November 2018 meeting minutes were approved
  2. Recap of recent events
    1. Box Tops: raised $320.20 so far! And major contest until 2/22 (before submission deadline of 3/1)
    2. Bingo and Family Game Night: ~20-25 families attended
      • Good turnout (had to get more tables); free snacks included Pirate’s Booty and Sun Chips
      • Recommend PA system next time (a little hard to hear Bingo caller)
    3. Spiritwear Apparel Sale (not tie-dye): waiting on check
      • A lot of work for this service with little profit
    • Perhaps low sales since families can’t see/feel the items before ordering
    • Not as much interest in Blaze gear; tie-dye shirts are more successful
  1. Treasurer’s Update
    1. Possible funding of a larger project (i.e. playground, outdoor classroom)
      • Mr. Essay gathering staff input on what they want for the building and looking for common feedback among the grade levels
      • PTO cannot fund staff positions or stipends for certain activities (i.e. student council, orchestra)
    2. Schwan’s Campaign program will end on 4/30/2019 (we’ve already raised $996!)
    3. Paid for Artist in Residence supplies, book grant (pass through), and some teacher grants
  2. Volunteer Coordinator Update
    1. Still have many open team lead positions
      • Staff appreciation week of ⅚
      • BOGO Book Fair in May needs help! (thanks Christie Hagemann for leading)
      • Help Tien with landscaping – possible family fun night?!
      • HORNET HOP – existing team has dissolved but has detailed notes and tasks regarding how to run the event (James Palmer willing to be part of planning team of 2-3 more people)
      • YEARBOOK – need a sales lead, creative lead to make the yearbook, and photographers (perhaps a photographer for each grade level to split up the work) (thanks current lead Gretchen Graham)
