  1. Confirmation of Board Members
    1. President: Martell Dennis
    2. Co-Vice Presidents: Katie Fisher and Melissa Maggio
    3. Secretary:  Tawny Herdegen
    4. Treasurer: Jim Kennedy
    5. Volunteer Coordinator: Linda Smith
      1. Linda is also the HB academic volunteer coordinator. There is an individual that might be interested in assisting or co-leading the PTO volunteer coordinator position.
  2. New Family Night on Thursday, 8/23 (Non-PTO event)
    1. 2 board members (Martell Dennis and Katie Fisher) will be at the event
  3. Updating Website and Facebook
    1. Need to improve accessibility
    2. Lack of volunteering information
    3. Add sign-up genius links
    4. Link HB school website to HB PTO website. Get rid of broken/dead links.
  4. PTO Tables at Events
    1. Sell t-shirts at “Meet Your Teacher” and “Back to School” nights
    2. Snacks from “PTO Today Back-to-School Box” will be given out at “New Families Night”
    3. 3 trays of cookies will be provided by the PTO at “Back to School” night
  5. Parade Volunteers
    1. Currently 460 students enrolled
    2. Will provide freezees for ~100 marching band members too
    3. Sign-up genius for 5 volunteers to cut and distribute freezees
  6. First Day of School Morning Social
  7. First Week Flyers for Friday Folders
    1. PTO and Academic event descriptions with volunteer opportunities
    2. Easy fund-raising opportunities (Box Tops, Amazon Smiles, etc.)
  8. Other PTO Business
    1. School Sign: Melissa will create a calendar guide and ideas/expectations for the team lead
    2. PTO meeting will be shorter (no more than 30-45 minutes)
    3. Need to create guidelines/format for requests, including determining how board members will vote on the matters and what is the appropriate response time for urgent PTO matters
    4. Katie secured food donations for teacher breakfast on their first day of training
    5. Secretary (Tawny) will be responsible for monitoring email. Linda will be routinely checking email for volunteer-related matters.
    6. Erin Huber and Melissa’s $800 grant request for classroom books from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community was approved!
  9. Other School Business
    1. Looking for 10 volunteers to help kindergarteners in the morning and at lunchtime
    2. Read-a-thon: company interested in sponsoring a prize for the students. Will review with BLT for input on a fun reward/experience.
    3. Silent Auction: currently have many items with a combined value of ~$4,000. Items will have “buy now” options. Will need to determine how we are going to process payments.
